North End Against Drugs will announce recipients for its 2017 scholarship awards. Funded by the Michelina & Raymond Costa Scholarship / Educational Fund and generous sponsors. Cash scholarships will be awarded to private school students and Staples gift cards to public school students who live in the North End.
6:00pm St. John School Auction Fundraiser. 2017 St. John School auction fundraiser to benefit the renovations to our Tosi Gymnasium and further enhance our science and technology programs. Located at the Battery Wharf Hotel Boston Waterfront, 3 Battery Wharf.
6:00pm Sean Stellato – Book presentation and signing. No Backing Down is the true story of the 1994 Salem High school football team, which was composed of players from the most challenged personal circumstances. Located at I AM Books, 189 North St, Boston.

Zip line eyed as Greenway moneymaker
Set to Open this summer, Greenway officials plan to launch a 220-foot zip line that stands 30-foot-high between Clinton and North streets near Faneuil Hall. Planning to run $8 per ride, The Boston Herald has more on the latest attraction.

10:00am Election Day for Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) at Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St. The annual election for North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) is on May 20, 2017 where six of the twelve seats will be decided. The ballots will be counted immediately following the close of the voting and is open to the general public, more information.
10:00am The Evening Girls Club Book Talk at 9 Hull St. The Saturday Evening Girls Club. A book talk by Jane Healey, a freelance journalist and author of a new book based on this real North End club from a century ago. Ticket information at NorthEndBoston.org, view the post.
10:30am I Piccoli Lettori. Join I AM Books for its Italian reading group for little ones! Children (0-4) and their parents will engage in multiple readings and games for a fun morning of Italian language and learning. Located at 189 North Street.

12:00pm NEMPAC Children’s Music Theatre Troupe Presents: Seussical Kids! NEMPAC’s Music Theatre Troupe will take on Dr. Seuss and all of his popular characters; from Horton the Elephant to the Cat in the Hat, our young performers will journey to the Jungle of Nool in this spectacular musical of Dr. Seuss! State Representative Aaron Michlewitz is hosting the 2nd Annual North End Cornhole Classic, a fundraising cornhole tournament with proceeds going to the Geraldine Marshall Scholarship Fund and the North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC). 3:30pm LeggiAMO Insieme. The volunteer group Nati per Leggere of Greater Boston, in collaboration with I AM Books presents LeggiAMO Insieme, full immersion Italian story time and play. 5:00pm Newtalians (live Italian music).
