A Second Limoncello Will Dish Out More Italian Food in the North End

Limoncello, the Italian restaurant in Boston’s North End on North Street will open another location, “Limoncello 2” at 76 Salem Street, the space previously occupied by Urban Cantina. Eater Boston has more on the new location.

Deal to allow tower in Winthrop Square: Glorious windfall for city parks and housing projects or Faustian bargain?

Boston City Council could be voting this week on a proposed 750-foot tower to be built on the site of a condemned city garage in Winthrop Square. The $1-billion tower would also cast a shadow on the Common and the Public Garden, UniversalHub has more on the efforts from Mayor Walsh and the BPDA.

6:00pm Olivia Kate Cerrone – The Hunger Saint. The Hunger Saint (Bordighera Press 2017) is a historical novella about a young boy’s survival from the sulfur mines of rural Sicily. Set in post WWII-era Italy, this book reflects upon the religious, cultural, social and economic factors that helped normalize the practice of child labor abuse in Italy. Located at I AM Books, 189 North Street.

North End Girl Scout Troop Clothing DriveHave you started your spring cleaning yet? Well, you probably have a lot of clothes you don’t need or your children have outgrown. Please consider donating them! Our Girl Scout Troop will accept kids’ clothes sizes newborn to 14 years old, as well as women’s and men’s sizes small and medium. All clothing should be washed and in good condition. We cannot accept pajamas, undergarments, socks, or shoes. More information.

Teachers are Taking on Haiti Fundraiser at Bell in Hand on May 12th. For a week this August, I will be traveling with 2 other teachers to Grand-Goâve, Haiti to build a house and volunteer at a local orphanage. We are proud to be doing this as part of The Be Like Brit Foundation. Our first fundraiser will be held at the Bell in Hand Tavern, located at 45 Union Street, more information.
