Friends of the North End Branch Library held a successful fundraiser this week celebrating recent successes at the neighborhood library. Dozens of enthusiastic supporters gathered at Ristorante Lucia on Hanover Street. Leading the Friends group are President Chris Sabbey, Vice President Jean Casale, Treasurer Judith Ives and Secretary John Merry.
The North End branch has a new acting librarian, Jennifer Hawes, who you already know as the Children’s Librarian. Jennifer will hold both positions for the immediate future.
A special “Honorary Friend” presentation was made to Jannelle Richardson for her terrific efforts on the popular chess program at the library. Live entertainment was provided by The Joness.
If you have not stopped by recently, the Friends supported BPL’s refresh of the space including painting the ceiling and walls, updated interior and exterior lighting, repainting the inside plumbing and repairing the exterior sidewalk masonry.
Joining in the celebration were Eliot School Principal Traci Walker Griffith, City Wide Friends of the Library President Dave and a visit by State Representative Aaron Michlewitz.
