Weekend’s 3 Things: Basketball Bonanza, Brass Polishing, italianissimo!, NBSS Open House!

Three Things to Know for the Weekend!

1. Packed weekend of events from the community calendar:

Friday, November 18

10:00am (Also on Saturday, November 19th, 10:00am) North Bennet Street School Open House at 150 North Street. Visit one of the country’s oldest schools of traditional craftsmanship located in Boston’s historic North End. Watch presentations in Bookbinding, Cabinet & Furniture Making, Carpentry, Jewelry Making & Repair, Locksmithing & Security Technology, Piano Technology, Preservation Carpentry, and Violin Making & Repair. Free admission, more information.

6:00pm Basketball Bonanza at Nazzaro Center, 30 North Bennet Street. The tournament will feature a variety of basketball games and skill competition for players 8 to 17. Entrance fee is $5.00 and includes pizza from Rocco’s, a t-shirt and welcoming bag. Register at the Nazzaro Community Center, walk-ins are welcome but pre-registration is encouraged. Saturday, November 19

9:00am Old North’s Annual Brass Polishing Party.  This Saturday is the annual brass polishing party at Old North. Anyone is welcome to come for any length of time from 9-noon. Guests will receive 20% off at our gift shop. 18th century brass chandeliers and sconces. Open to the public! Mimosas & Coffee too! [Parish House, Old North Church, 193 Salem Street].

1:00pm Knitwear Pop-Up with DeRoucheau at Shake the Tree.  Meet local knitter (and Shaker!) Deanna DeRouchey who will bring in her beautiful winter collection of hand-knit hats, headbands, throws and blankets!

6:00pm italianissimo! at Eataly.  Please join us for a celebration of all things Italian to benefit the Friends of the Italian Cultural Center of Boston: an exclusive pre-opening event at Eataly Boston, complete with never-ending food, drinks, and beyond, exclusively for italianissimo! guests. Sunday, November 20

3:00pm LeggiAMO Insieme. The Italian reading club presents LeggiAMO Insieme, Italian story time and play. For children 4-7 and their parents. [I AM Books, 189 North St, Boston].

2. BOS:311 Updates:

Rodent Sighting at 13 Charter Street – Dozens of rats coming from Eliot School into trash on Charter St. The rat situation in the North End is out of control!

Needle Clean-up at 529 543 Commercial Street – There is one needle locates around the benches near the leaves in Langone playground

Needle Clean-up at Intersection Of Causeway & Haverhill Streets –  North station, end of out bound (oak grove) platform. Syringe has been on tracks for MONTHS!!
