After a few quick reports from City Councilor Sal LaMattina’s office (00:00 – 00:22) and neighborhood liaison Maria Lanza (00:26 – 03:10), the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) continued with their agenda items at their monthly meeting on November 14th.

Petitioners Christopher and Samantha Iannella presented to the council (3:22), requesting zoning relief to change the use of property for their recently purchased building at 468 Commercial Street. The proponent is converting the building from two residential units and one commercial unit, into three residential units.

The couple plans to live in the building and hopes to stay long-term as they look start a family. They are forecasting the construction to take about four months, with most of the work being interior, while installing sprinkler fire systems and bringing each unit up to code. Citing support from neighbors who directly abut the property, the council voted unanimously in favor of supporting the zoning relief.
