3 Things for Tuesday: Climate Change, Parks Meeting, Dancing, Italian-American!

Three Things to Know for Tuesday, September 6th!

1. Notable news found from outside sources:

The Storm Is Coming. “All of this boils down to a sobering assessment of Boston’s future: What would be a rare disaster today will become a once-in-a-decade event within a generation and a twice-daily occurrence by the end of the century.” Stating that politicians and climate scientists know what needs to be done to save Boston from impending doom, now they just need to act on the rising water that could threaten the city. Every foot of sea-level rise significantly increases the chances of flooding, continue reading at Boston Magazine.

Massachusetts full of praise for new saint.  In response to the sainthood ceremony of Mother Teresa, North End resident Peter Baldassi has erected a shrine to Mother Teresa and other saints outside his home. “I knew she would become a saint,” Baldassi said, referring to her efforts caring for the sick, poor and forgotten. 2. Simply put: The North End.

3. Scheduled events on the agenda for today:

5:30pm Book launch event – “Not My Mother’s Kitchen.” Award-winning chef Rob Chirico learned to cook as a defense against his Italian mother’s awful meals. The first sentence of his touching, funny memoir is “My mother was an assassin.” Unlike what we imagine the traditional Italian mother—creating mouthwatering dishes like Cacio e Pepe and Summer Puttanesca—Mrs. Chirico did not like to cook.
