Tuesday, May 10

Special Election for State Senate
Democrat Joe Boncore will be on the ballot for the First Suffolk & Middlesex District to fill the seat vacated by Anthony Petruccelli. No other party has put forth a candidate on the ballot (other than write-ins).

6:30pm FOCCP Meeting at Mariner’s House, 11 North Square
FOCCP will celebrate their 15th Anniversary in 2016! Please join their May meeting for the annual election of Officers and to continue discussing activities already planned for 2016 and those we can plan in and for the Park.

Wednesday, May 11

3:00pm Downtown Waterfront Planning Meeting
Located at Boston City Hall in the 5th Floor Piemonte Room, this meeting will cover process updates and offset recommendations and discussion of Hook Lobster, the Harbor Garage and the Long Wharf Marriott before opening up the floor for public questions and comments.

6:30pm Old North Speaker Series: Brian Powell – Uncovering Cherubs
The fame of Old North Church is largely based on its connection to the celebrated ride of Paul Revere in the early Revolutionary period, overshadowing its great architectural significance as the first important “Christopher Wren type” church in the English colonies. The church as we see it today is the result of a 1912 restoration that was based on limited information. Register here.

6:30pm Design Presentation for 88 North Washington St at Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet Street
This meeting will discuss the proposal of new construction of a new 39,999 gsf structure with a 13 level, 74 key hotel on a 2,159 sf parcel on the corner of North Washington Street and Valenti Way in the Bulfinch Triangle district. View the event posting.

The 2016 NEWNC election will be held on May 14, 2016, 10am-2pm, with nine candidates running for six open seats.

5:00pm Fluid Collective – Allegro Concert Series [I AM Books, 189 North St]

3:00pm Cornhole Classic at The Living Room, 101 Atlantic Ave
Sunday Funday! State Representative Aaron Michlewitz is hosting the first North End Cornhole Classic, a fundraising cornhole tournament with proceeds going to the Geraldine Marshall Scholarship Fund and the North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC). Check in will begin at 2:30pm and the tournament will start promptly at 3:00pm. More information on the event, purchase tickets here. Prices are $50 per team ($25 per person) and get you 3 guaranteed games, drink ticket, and a t-shirt.
