3 Things to Know Saturday: NEWNC Election Day, Buses (Not) Excluded, Book Sale, Hoverboards

What does “Buses Excluded” mean without enforcement? asks Marie Morris with this photo from Hanover Street on Friday afternoon.

Three Things to Know Today

1. Saturday is the annual election for North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC). North End / Waterfront residents can cast their vote from 10am-2pm at the Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet Street. See the candidates on the ballot and more information here.

2. Got books? The Spring book sale is Saturday from 10am-2pm at the North End Branch Library, 25 Parmenter Street. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the North End Branch Library.

3. The North End has literally become ground zero for the debate over hoverboards after a Hanover Street fire earlier in the week. The Globe reports that at least one City Councilor is looking for regulating the use and sale of the self-balancing scooters that use potentially explosive rechargeable batteries. Read the article.
