Rainy Neighborhood Egg Hunt Draws Fun Crowd [Photos]

DSC_6803Boston Community Collaborative’s 4th annual neighborhood egg hunt was enjoyed by an estimated 100 rain coat and boot clad kids, along with their moms, dads, nannies, grandparents, and caregivers on Friday morning.

Although the weather forecast was for rain much later in the day, it rained – HARD – for the entire duration of the hunt. It was COLD and RAINY, but many commented: “So glad it was today – my kids, and I would have been so disappointed. We’d much rather be out here than indoors this morning.” No one allowed the rain to ruin the fun.

This year’s hunt was generously sponsored by The Living Room, hosted by The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park, and coordinated by Boston Community Collaborative.

Special thanks and recognition to:
FOCCP’s Ann Babbit who coordinated an egg stuffing event one afternoon in her home this past week – and the seven FOCCP ladies who attended and stuffed approximately 1,200 eggs.

7 year old Leo G who single handedly stuffed approximately 300 eggs over this past week.

The young hiders, ages 7-15, along with BCC’s dance and drama teacher, Ingrid Oslund, who came out extra early on their day off to help hide the eggs: Liam, Ryan, Charlie, Sam, Niamah, Becca W, RJ, Sarah, Grace, Maria, Marilyn, Paige, Joe and Leo. Thank you also to their parents.

Special, special, special thanks to the many kind folks at the event who made sure everyone had a great time. Once again this year, I saw much re-hiding of eggs for those who initially found few or none, or who arrived late. It is heartwarming to see the kindness shown by both kids and adults at this annual event.

Boston Community Collaborative was incorporated in 2013. Its mission is to connect people, and enrich lives. BCC offers courses in Drama, Dance, Fitness and Engineering for Kids during the St John School afterschool program. BCC holds a Movers and Shakers class for babies and toddlers at the West End Community Center. BCC hosts a number of community events: Movie Nights in the Gassy during the summer, an annual Halloween Party for adults, and an annual Springtime Egg Hunt in Christopher Columbus Park. BCC has some exciting new ventures and expansion planned. For more information, contact becca0923@yahoo.com.
