North End Against Drugs held its’ Annual Back to School Party on Friday night, September 25th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in Polcari Playground on North Bennet St at Nazzaro Center. Over 150 children and their parents attended this awesome event.
This year we had an awesome dance with wonderful music by DJ Ingrid! Regina’s donated tons of great pizza for all the attendees. NEAD provided snacks and soft drinks. This was our first outdoor dance party to celebrate back to school. It was great to see parents, teenagers and young children of all ages dance the night away.
To top the night off NEAD held a free raffle for all the children in attendance, we had 12 gift cards to Staples to help pay for Back to School Supplies. Special Thanks goes to State Senator Anthony Petruccelli, Representative Aaron Michlewitz and City Councilor Sal LaMattina for purchasing all of the gift cards. NEAD Board members Maria Puopolo, Karen D’Amico, Laurie D’Elia and John Romano were in attendance to run the event. Super volunteers Maria Lanza, Becca Griffin, Ann Fitzgerald, Janine Martignetti, Michael D’Elia and Patricia Romano also played a big role. Also thanks to the Nazzaro Center for letting us use their sound system, building and facility – Also to Bruce!
This was part of NEAD’s Family Fun Night Program which ensures that Adult Family members participate with their children. This program has been highly successful over the last 26 years.
