Music in Boston’s North End hit a high note on Saturday night as the St. Joseph’s Society brought a star-packed selection of performers to their “Italy American Style” concert at St. Stephen’s Church.
The North End’s own trumpeter, band leader and philanthropist, Albert Natale, 92 years young, was honored with the society’s Musical Achievement Award. In addition, Pastor Fr. Antonio and Fr. Claude from St. Leonard Parish presented an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis and read a commendation letter from Cardinal Sean O’Malley. Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, represented by the North End’s Maria Lanza, declared October 3rd as Albert Natale Day in the city.
Host and organizer Angelo Picardi, introduced the slate of talented performers at the concert including the NEMPAC singers, Street Magic, Ray Cavicchio, Sharon Z,Gian Faraone, BPD Officer Steve McNulty and the Tom LaMark Orchestra.

The North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) had a full house of friends and supporters enjoying a delicious dinner, live music, and wine pairings this past Monday, April 23rd at Carmelina’s Ristorante. The kids did extremely well this year by trick-or-treating in the North End on Halloween with nearly all businesses and many residences participating in the neighborhood tradition. Due to the rain on Sunday, the NEMPAC Opera Project production of La Bohéme will be moved inside to St. Stephen’s Church at 401 Hanover Street, Boston’s North End at 7pm.
