Events: NEWRA ZLC Meeting, Apple Picking Trip, Girl “Friends” Reunion, Back to School Party and More!

Below is a list of events in the North End / Waterfront neighborhood for the week of September 21st through the 27th, take a look!

Tuesday, September 22

7:00pm NEWRA Zoning, Licensing & Construction (ZLC) Committee Meeting – Mariner’s House
Located at 11 North Square, the NEWRA ZLC committee will be hosting their monthly meeting.

Wednesday, September 23

5:00pm Italian Movie Nights at Caffe Paradiso
Each Wednesday evening, two Italian movies will be shown with English subtitles (5:00 and 7:00 pm) at Caffè Paradiso downstairs in the air-conditioned viewing room. The movies will be projected on a huge screen with clear and loud stereo speakers. Additionally, they will provide fresh food and drinks from local North End establishments.

6:00pm Movie: Romantics Anonymous (2010) at North End Library [25 Parmenter Street]
What happens when a man and a woman share a common passion? They fall in love. And this is what happens to Jean-René, the boss of a small chocolate factory, and Angélique, a gifted chocolate maker he has just hired. What occurs when a highly emotional man meets a highly emotional woman? More information on the movie.

6:30pm “The Lowest of the Mob” Exploring the Actions of Sailors and Slaves during the Stamp Act Crisis.*
Located at The Paul Revere House – 19 North Square: In the late fall of 1765, colonists wearing “soot, sailors habits and slouch hats” harassed Crown officials, tore down houses of prominent merchants, and violently hounded those suspected of involvement with the “damned stampt paper.” Admission is free, view the event post.

Friday, September 25

6:30pm Back to School Party Dance at Nazzaro Center
Free to all North End residents, Nazzaro Center members and students from the Eliot and St. John Schools. This is a NEAD family fun event 0pen to all ages but parents must attend with their children and children must attend with their parents. There will be a DJ, free raffles for the kids, pizza, soft drinks and snacks.

7:00pm italianissimo at Museum of Science
italianissimo! Organized by the Friends of the Italian Cultural Center of Boston (FICCB) under the auspices of the Italian Consulate General. The gala, in its fourth year, is a fundraising for the promotion of the Italian language and culture and its ultimate goal is the creation of Cultural Center. This Center will become a real meeting place for all the different souls in our community. Tickets are available!

Saturday, September 26

9:30am Dog Park Coffee Morning at Gassy/DeFilippo Park
Go to the North End Dog park for coffee morning and feedback! Join RUFF for some coffee while fido gets in some play time. The RUFF board will be on hand with updates on the park, sign up info for the Dog Show and to answer questions and/or any concerns that may come up.

6:30pm Girl “Friends” of the North End Reunion at Filippo’s 283 Causeway Street
The 5th Annual Girl “Friends” of the North End Reunion to be held at Filippo’s Ristorante, 283 Causeway Street. View the event posting for the flyer with details.

Sunday, September 27

10:00am Family Apple Picking Trip [Meet at the Starbucks on Atlantic Avenue]
A family apple picking event, children must be accompanied by your parents and vice versa. Returning around 3pm, e will be going to Smolack Farms. The cost of the trip is $5 per person for the bus., you pay your own way at the farm. You must sign up ahead of time as space is limited. See Laurie D’Elia at the Nazzaro Center to pay and reserve your space.
