On Thursday, August 13, VFW Post 144 of the North End sponsored their 3rd Annual Bocce Tournament at the outdoor courts adjacent to Andrew Puopolo Park. The purpose of the tournament is to show respect to and honor the service of the residents of the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home.
The Friends of the North End, members of VFW Post 144 and the veterans all took part in the matches. The competition was friendly and enjoyable for all the players. At the conclusion of the tournament a gift certificate was awarded to the winners from the Soldiers’ Home. This beautiful and worthwhile summer’s day ended with everyone enjoying a catered lunch provided by the VFW.
