On Monday, the New England Patriots publicized dates for the opening week of next months training camp, which will once again be held on the fields adjacent to Gillette Stadium. Camp will kickoff when veterans report on Wednesday, July 29th followed by the first practices, which will be open to the general public on July 30th. The team has designated open practices through August 2nd, however additional dates and official times will be forthcoming. The Patriots will hold a special joint squad practice with the New Orleans Saints at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The teams will later meet in a preseason matchup in New Orleans. The joint practices will be held on Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20.
The Patriots will kickoff their pre-season on Thursday, August 13th at Gillette Stadium versus the Green Bay Packers. Last season, the Packers gave the Patriots one of their toughest tests on their road to a championship, coming away with a 26-21 win at historic Lambeau Field. The two teams nearly met again in Super Bowl XLIX, however the Packers failed to hold off a late Seahawk comeback in the NFC Championship game.
