On behalf of the North End Friends of St. Francis House we would like to thank everyone in the community who supported our event again this year. The North End Community is always generous and it showed as we raised close to $9,000 at our annual Bake Sale and Flea Market event this year. Thanks to our generous anonymous donor who helped round up our efforts to $10K and then matched that amount, we were able to bring $20,000 in much needed funds to the Shelter for the second year in a row. We have raised over $100k since we started many years ago.
“I would like to personally thank everyone who helped in whatever way they could,” said founding member John Romano. This event is so wonderful because people from all over the neighborhood participate in so many ways. We did it a little later this year due to all the snow and people were stopping me in the street asking when we would have it because they saved up stuff for the flea market!
Special thanks goes to Mike’s Pastry and Bova Bakery, Joe Pace & Son and Maria’s Pastry for all the baked goods. True Value, Go Banana’s, Polcari’s Coffee, Hanover Wine and Spirits and the Green Cross Pharmacy for keeping cans in their stores for over a month. To Johnny from Mangia Mangia’s for all of his support. To Mary and Frank Romano for all the cooking, to Kathy, Olivia, Mikey Fud, Lillian and Maryanne – each whose tireless help made this event possible! Last but not least, all of our friends in the North End who pitched in to bake stuff, drop off flea market items and to come and support us and spend money at the event! Thanks also to the Nazzaro Center and the amazing staff who helped with set up, clean up and managing all of the donations throughout the week. Also thanks to the North End Seniors for giving up their room for the day! Please forgive me if I missed anyone.
God Bless the North End – the best neighborhood this side of heaven!
