The final report is in from the Neighborhood Engagement Walks in the Fall of 2014 by the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS). In the North End / West End, former ONS representative Nicole Leo walked the streets to perform an audit of public safety and quality of life issues. Problem issues were assigned to the appropriate city department, such as Public Works, Inspectional Services, Parks or the Transportation Department. Residents were also invited to join the walks and point out issues along the way.
In the North End, sidewalk and pothole repair topped the list even before the severe winter season. Tree and ground maintenance was also highlighted along with sign problems and street light outages.
