Boston Olympics Director Updates Community on Planning for 2024 Bid

John Fitzgerald, Boston Redevelopment Authority, visited the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) this week to update the community on how City Hall is planning around the pending bid for the 2024 Olympics in Boston. Fitzgerald laid out Mayor Walsh’s approach to the Olympics and how it could impact overall city planning and infrastructure.

Olympic Boulevard would be at Fort Point Channel leading to a new stadium at Widett Circle in South Boston. Other downtown venues would include TD Garden and the Convention Center.

The closest Olympics venue to the North End would be TD Garden that would host gymnastics and some basketball.

The City of Boston is interested in hearing from residents on potential projects in neighborhoods, such as the North End, that should be part of Olympics planning. Citizens can contact City Hall regarding the Olympics at olympics@boston.gov.
