North End Against Drugs will hold their Family Dinner Family/Family Talk at the Nazzaro Center. All North End Families are welcome to attend. There will be an Italian Dinner and our guest speaker will be the North End’s own Norma Reppucci, an expert in the recovery field. 6:00pm Pool Tournament Benefit at Boston Beer Works [112 Canal Street, Boston]

6:00pm First Ladies on Film at North End Library [25 Parmenter Street, Boston]
First Ladies on Film: From Martha Washington to Michelle Obama In an illustrated talk, author and BPL staff member John De Vito counts down the top ten most popular first ladies of America on TV, movie, and computer screens. Join us for this scintillating program; light refreshments will be served. For an adult audience, the cost is free.

4:00pm Dog Licensing at City Hall to Go Truck, Hanover & Prince Intersection
The City Hall To Go Truck will be on the corner of Hanover and Prince Street. Dog licensing is one of the most important aspects of dog ownership, and the new dog park at the Gassy requires all dogs to be licensed. There will be no clinic at the Nazzaro center this year, in place the City Hall to go truck will be licensing dogs on April 30th.
6:30pm Film: Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey @ The West End Museum

12:00pm Flash Forward Festival Opens on Greenway 12pm6pm
The Flash Forward Festival opens its Shipping Containers on Parcel 12 of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The series, “Amerikanare” by Gregor Schmatz will be featured. “Amerikanare” is a Swedish term which commonly refers to an American car. View the event post.
The Fence Returns to Greenway Parcel 12
From May 1st through September 1st 2015, The Fence returns to the Rose Kennedy Greenway on Parcel 12 between Quincy Market and Cross Street in the North End. This year for Boston, there is an additional section of work focusing on the North End Neighborhood as part of this special second edition of The Fence. Read more about The Fence.
5:00pm Dog Park Opening at the Flights (Gassy, DeFilippo Park)
RUFF will host the opening of the North End dog park at the DiFilippo Park (Gassy) along with the City of Boston Parks Department. Free pizza will be served along with treats for dogs. The community group is very excited to see the dog park come to fruition and hopes lots of people will stop by the park and take a look at the site and meet RUFF members.
7:00pm Taste of the North End 6pm at Steriti Rink, 561 Commercial Street
The Taste of the North End – one of Boston’s most popular festivals of food, charity, and the rich history of the neighborhood – is taking place on Friday, May 1st this year. Guests can sample from more than 35 popular North End eateries showcasing a wide array of delectable appetizers, cheeses, entrees and desserts, and sip on refreshing libations from area wine and beer distributors. Come to the Flash Forward Festival Opening Reception at the Battery Wharf Hotel where acclaimed Boston photographer Bill Brett returns with Boston: Irish, a collection of more than 260 black-and-white photographs of the people and the city he loves. 7:00pm West End Museum Jazz Week: Bright Moments [West End Museum, 150 Staniford Street, Suite 7]
$10 Donation / $5 Member Donation This concert presents a sextet playing the music of Charles Mingus and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Forces in the 1950s and 60s, Mingus and Kirk brought a modern verve to music rooted in gospel and blues. Both artists led the direction of contemporary jazz music.
