It is a day valued most in Massachusetts as runners embark on the world famous Boston Marathon, the Red Sox play a special Patriot’s Day game at Fenway, and all area schools are closed. That is just the start of a week packed with local events!

Monday, April 20

Patriot’s Day – Boston Marathon
City offices are closed, Sunday parking rules are in effect, Boston Public Schools and libraries are closed along with all community centers as runners head from Hopkinton to Boylston Street in Boston.

10:30am Patriot’s Day Parade & Reenactment of Paul Revere’s Ride
The annual Patriot’s Day Parade starts at City Hall Plaza and ends at the North End’s Prado (Paul Revere Mall). The reenactment of Paul Revere’s ride will start on Hanover Street in front of Cyrus Dallin’s famous equestrian statue. View the event post.

10:30am Midnight Ride Storytelling Program: The Paul Revere House [19 North Square, Boston]
Find out what really happened on Paul Revere’s ride! Separate the facts from the myths, then retrace Revere’s route from his home to the banks of the Charles River. Participants don hats and carry props as they go, taking on the roles of Paul and Rachel Revere, their children, British soldiers, rowers, John Hancock and Samuel Adams. View the post for more!

1:00pm NEAD / Improv Asylum Comedy Event [Improv Asylum, 216 Hanover Street, Boston]
North End Against Drugs, in collaboration with the Improv Asylum is having a Family Friendly Comedy Show. They will have free pizza and soft drinks in the Improv Lobby area and then we will be treated to an awesome Improv Comedy Show that is for all ages. Children in the Nazzaro Camp will be coming with the Nazzaro Center. The event is free! View the event post.

2:00pm Drop-In Colonial Kids Activities: The Paul Revere House [19 North Square, Boston]
Families with kids of all ages are encouraged to stop by to try on clothes like Paul Revere’s kids wore, play 18th century games in an informal setting, and write with a quill pen. This program is included with admission to the house and reservations are not required. View the post for more!

Little Groove music classes are designed to help infants, toddlers, and preschoolers learn and interact through sound, sight, and touch in a live music setting.

10:00am Free Walking Tour of North End Harborwalk; Start at Christopher Columbus Park
The Friends of the Boston HarborWalk are delighted that Jordan Krasnow will lead us on a guided tour of the North End section of HarborWalk. All are welcome, but please only RSVP to info@tbha.org if you plan to come, as space is limited and we want to be able to contact you in case of inclement weather.

10:30am Kids-eye-view Tour of the Paul Revere House [19 North Square, Boston]
Take a tour designed especially to answer kids’ most pressing Historic House questions like: where did 16 children sleep in this house? How did they bathe & where did they go to the bathroom? Why didn’t playing cards have numbers? And who was this Paul Revere guy anyway? This program is limited to 20 people. View the post for more!

12:00pm “The Roseman” Lecture at North End Library [25 Parmenter Street, Boston]
A lecture and presentation will be given by Irwin Ehrenrich (The Roseman). The event is sponsored by the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park. This lecture is a powerpoint presentation covers rose history, classification, the year in the rose garden from spring pruning to winter protection and finally a photo gallery of some of Irwin’s rose garden. View the event post.

12:00pm NEAA Baseball Opening Ceremonies [Langone Park, Commercial Street, Boston]
Opening ceremonies will be at noon as the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) 2015 baseball program kicks off a five-game schedule at Langone Field on Commercial Street. The games begins with three Minor League games at 9, 10 and 11am. The Majors games will start at 1pm, followed by a second game once the first game has been completed. View the event post.

9:00am  Saint Mark Society Communion Breakfast at Sacred Heart Church, North Square
The annual Holy Mass and Communion Breakfast in honor of Saint Mark will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 in Sacred Heart Church, North Square in Boston’s North End. Following the celebration of Mass breakfast will be served in St. John’s School hall across from the Church. This year the Society will be honoring, Joseph “Domenic / Dom Demag” Campochiaro a longtime member who recently passed away, along with deceased member Eddie Vignolo and all deceased members of the Society.
