News from the Office of State Representative Aaron Michlewitz:

State Representative Aaron Michlewitz has been appointed Chairman of the Joint Committee on Financial Services for the 2015-16 legislative session by Speaker Robert DeLeo.
“I am truly humbled and honored to be named House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Financial Services. I am excited to start working with the committee and to take on this new challenge,” said Representative Michlewitz. “I want to thank Speaker DeLeo and my colleagues for appointing me to this position. I fully appreciate the importance of the insurance and banking industries to the Commonwealth and I am eager to begin tackling the numerous issues that we face in that field.”
The Joint Committee on Financial Services deals with all matters concerning banks, banking institutions, credit unions, insurance companies, insurance, including motor vehicle insurance, small loans, and other related issues. The financial and insurance industries are one of the leading businesses in Massachusetts, employing thousands of people in Boston and in other areas of the Commonwealth. Given this, and Massachusetts national prominence in providing health insurance to all citizens, the Joint Committee on Financial Services is widely considered one of the more influential committees in the State House.
“These industries are a major sector of our growing economy and I look forward to cultivating a productive relationship with all parties involved,” said Michlewitz.
Representative Michlewitz had served as Chair of the Public Service Committee for the previous session and had also been Chair of the Election Laws Committee, previously.
