Rep. Michlewitz Hears From Residents on AirBnb and Olympics Legislation [Video]

State Representative Aaron Michlewitz held a discussion regarding pending legislation at the March meeting of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA). Michlewitz represents the 3rd Suffolk District in Massachusetts including the Boston neighborhoods of the North End / Waterfront, West End, Beacon Hill, Chinatown, Downtown Crossing, Bay Village, Leather District and much of the South End. He was also recently appointed Chair of the House Financial Services Committee.

Most of the discussion surrounded a bill to regulate short-term residential rentals, such as AirBnB, Flipkey and StayAlfred. Some users of the short-term rental sites debated the issue with Rep. Michlewitz at the meeting.

Rep. Michlewitz passed on a complaint phone number for AirBnb issues: 1-855-424-7262.

The other major proposed legislation reviewed at the meeting was on a bill to create a Boston Olympic Commission to oversee the 2024 bid and its financing.
