Girls from the newly formed North End Junior Girl Scout Troop #69168 decided to host a clothing drive in the month of December. They partnered with Cradles to Crayons in Brighton to support the “Gear Up for Winter” campaign. The girls collected winter essentials like coats, boots, pants, hats and gloves for disadvantaged Massachusetts children.
The new troop meets at the Eliot school in the North End and was supported by the entire school community. The Junior troop made the deliveries on Dec. 22nd, just in time for the holidays. The girls also had to chance to tour the “Giving Factory” to see how the donations are accepted and distributed. Girls pictured include Holly Sullivan, Lauren Bussell, Sophia Allen, Bella Carr, Madison Kane and Mackenzie Wheeler. Girls in the troop not pictured include Elle Woods and Carolina Antonio. Troop Leaders are Cindy Sullivan, Jonalyn Agri and Anne Marie DeGirolamo.
According to Cradles to Crayons:
“As the weather grows colder, families in homeless and low-income situations will find it increasingly challenging to provide their children with adequate clothing to face winter’s harsh conditions. We need your help to keep 17,000 local children safe and warm.”
