Design Video: A Closer Look at the Proposed N. Washington Street / Charlestown Bridge

Following up on the posted renderings of the proposed North Washington Street Bridge, architect Miguel Rosales (Rosales + Partners) has shared this design video showing animated views of the bridge from every angle. Boston Public Works is leading the $100 million, 4-year reconstruction project expected to commence in 2016.

Known in the North End and Downtown Boston as the Charlestown Bridge, the new structure will have two traffic lanes in each direction along with multimodal space for bicycles and pedestrians. Bumped out areas in the center of the bridge will feature landscaping and viewing areas along the Freedom Trail. The bridge will remain open during construction with a restricted number of traffic lanes until its expected completion in 2020.

  1. For 100 Million Dollars we are still going to get 2 lanes in either direction. So the 5 lanes coming from Rutherford Ave. will still be road rage to get into 2 lanes. Makes no sense to me.
