(00:00 in video) Welcome by David Marx, NEWNC Public Safety Committee Chair
(01:20) Sexual Assault and Arrest – Capt. Fong recounted the sequence of events that led to the suspect’s arrest. The female victim was walking home around 3 am on Saturday when she noticed an unknown man walking behind her in the area of Tileston and Wiggin Streets. A brief conversation ensued when she turned to acknowledge him. The man assaulted her inappropriately and she defended herself by striking him in the head and groin, at which point the man fled on foot. Using surveillance tapes from the area, Boston Police District A-1 officers recognized the man from an earlier incident that night when he appeared intoxicated. Through information in a Field Interview and Observation report, detectives located the suspect at his home in Fall River later on Saturday night. The suspect does not appear to match the description of the suspect in another sexual assault in the North End earlier this year.
(07:35) Breaking and Entering on Margaret Street – Victim reported 2 laptops were stolen. No visible signs of forced entry.
(08:15) Auto Theft – At 415 Hanover St., a Lexus left running on the street was stolen.
(08:50) Purse stolen at Goody Glovers – Using “Find My iPhone” app, victim identified her purse was in another bag owned by the bartender at Goody Glover’s. See the video and police blotter for more details.
