Remembering Lt. William F. Callahan, Jr. and Rededication of the Callahan Tunnel

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation would like to invite you to the
REDEDICATION OF THE CALLAHAN TUNNEL

When: Saturday, November 15th, 10:00 AM
Where: 128 North Street, Boston, MA

On Saturday, November 15th, MassDOT Officials invite you to join Acting MassDOT Secretary and CEO, Frank DePaola and area officials to celebrate the rededication of the Callahan Tunnel. The tunnel was originally opened on Veterans’ Day in 1961, and was named in memory of Lt. William F. Callahan Jr. In conjunction with the rehabilitation project, MassDOT has a new commemoration to be revealed in the name of Lt. Callahan.

  1. I lived next door to the Callahans along with my Dad Herb Kopf former football coach at Boston Yanks, Pro, BC, Brandies, Columbia, Manhattan. We were their best friends. I have Billys 22 rifle that they gave me we he died. Never met Billy. We moved next to them in 1944. We lived near them during the summers in Scituate.   3. I recall Herd and Ruth…..but I was very young then…..Scituate was a great place with lots of memories.
