I am writing this letter to announce that I have taken over as director of the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NE/WE NSC), as Lia Tota stepped down after 32 years of service. The North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NE/WE NSC), one of ABCD’s satellite locations, was founded in 1964 to meet the specific needs of low-income residents in the North End and West End, including the elderly, immigrants, families, and anyone in need. We provide multilingual services in the areas of education, health and advocacy, basic needs assistance, a food program, and services for the homebound.
I first came to the NSC in 1996 and for the majority of those years I was assistant director. My background includes expertise in management, accounting and financial systems from my years of work in corporate in the banking industry. I grew up in the North End before returning to Italy, where I attended business school; started a family; and began my career in office management and translation work. This makes me knowledgeable of Italian as well as American culture. Like many children of immigrants, I was responsible for assisting my parents and connecting them to resources in the community and advocating for them. This has provided me with insight and sensitivity in serving our North End and West End constituents.
At this time I extend an invitation to reconnect with some of you as well as to meet some other members of the community who are doing such valuable work for our neighborhoods. I see this as an exciting time for mutual collaboration around shared issues and concerns. I would love to invite you to the NE/WE NSC to learn more about our agency and to meet the staff and volunteers, many of who are multilingual and bring a wide range of skills and experience to their positions, and equal passion for our mission. Please see my contact information below.
