Free NEMPAC Concert Tuesday! “From Russia to Italy”

NEMPAC welcomes musicians, Italian Cellist Dr. Francesco Mastromatteo and Boston University Pianist, Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova, to the North End of Boston for this special performance in celebration of Italian Heritage Month. The concert titledFrom Russian to Italy” will be held on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Stephen’s Church at 401 Hanover Street.  The concert will feature a passionate program of composers Prokofiev, Stravinsky, and Paganini.

Dr. Mastromatteo, cellist, joins us from Lucera, Italy where he is the artistic director of The Concert Society “Amici della Musica G. Paisiello” of Lucera (Foggia) which was founded in 1984 to divulgate classical music, to promote young musical talents, particularly from Puglia, and to open the city of Lucera to an international artistic landscape. http://www.amicimusicapaisiello.com/

Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova, pianist, is described as “a perfect partner” by Klassik Newsletter Berlin and “a brilliant collaborative pianist” by Wiener Zeitung (Vienna), Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova is a pianist, chamber

musician, opera and lieder coach, and orchestral pianist based in Boston, USA. She was born in New York, NY, and grew up in the English Channel Islands and Canada. She has performed with prominent musicians in the USA, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy, Canada, Venezuela, and China. She is currently Staff Pianist at Boston University.

Dr. Wright-Ivanova has appeared in recital with orchestral members from the Boston Philharmonic, Portland Symphony Orchestra, Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Wichita Symphony Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and with singers from the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Leipzig Oper, and Calgary Opera. She has also worked with conductors Mischa Santora, Lisa Graham, Lidiya Yankovskaya, and Alexander Kalajdzic, and with composers Jo Kondo, Steve Reich, Joan Tower, Gavin Bryars, and Daniel Brewbaker.

We encourage the North End Community to come out and support their local non-profit performing arts center! We look forward to welcoming members of the Italian Heritage Month Committee, and well as the Dante Alighieri Society.The concert is free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $10-15. NEMPAC hosts this concert in an effort to celebrate Italian Heritage Month.
