7:00pm Italian Heritage Month Honoree Night at The West End Museum
[150 Staniford St, Boston] Free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served. This year’s West End Museum Italian Heritage Month Honorees—recognized for their contributions to preserving the culture of the West End and its rich immigrant history—are Joseph Caruso and Theresa Raso. Pre-registration is required. Joseph Caruso was born in Italy and moved to the West End with his family at age 7. When the City announced plans to level the neighborhood, Caruso and five friends created a committee to save the West End by rallying residents. More Information.

7:30pm NEMPAC’s Italian Heritage Month Concert “From Russia to Italy”
[St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 24 Clark Street, Boston] NEMPAC welcomes musicians, Italian Cellist Dr. Francesco Mastromatteo and Boston University Pianist, Dr. Christina Wright-Ivanova, to the North End of Boston for this special performance in celebration of Italian Heritage Month. The Concert is Free and Open to the Public. Suggested Donation is $10 – 15.

North End / Waterfront / West End Neighborhood Coordinator, Nicole Leo, from the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services invites all residents and business owners to join her for a Neighborhood Engagement Walk. Meet on the corner of Hanover and Fleet Street, feel free to show up for the walks or contact Nicole Leo at nicole.leo@boston.gov.

6:00pm Meeting: Parcel and 128 North St RFPs
[Nazzaro Community Center, 30 N Bennet St, Boston] Up-Coming Request for Proposals On Parcel 11A & 128 North Street. Staff from MassDOT will discuss their intention to release Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on two MassDOT owned properties in the North End of Boston. There will be two separate RFPs released, one for each of the two locations. MassDOT will also be soliciting feedback from the community on these two RFPs.

Lecture/Slide Presentation and Book Talk. Free Carmela Cattuti’s novel Between the Cracks: One Woman’s Journey from Sicily to America is a fascinating look at the life of her great aunt, who emigrated to America from Sicily in the 1920’s.

6:30pm The West End Museum Italian Film Series: Two Women / La Ciociara
[150 Staniford St, Suite 7 Boston]  Free and open to the public; pre-registration required. Honoring Hollywood producer and former West Ender Joseph E. Levine Film producer Joseph E. Levine (The Graduate, A Bridge Too Far, The Lion in Winter) came from the West End. In 1961, he bought the North American distribution rights to Two Women after seeing just three minutes of raw footage.

Hordon Health’s Open House is Friday (10/10) evening. It starts at 6pm and your free to come and go as you please. We’ll have snacks and drinks and of course awesome music.
