Good Neighbor Recognition Award Goes to the Peterlin Family

The Good Neighbor Recognition Award for August 2014 was awarded to the Peterlin Family at 33 Clark Street. The award was presented by Recognition Committee Chair Janet Gilardi of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA). The monthly award is voted by NEWRA’s Executive Committee and presented to local businesses, organizations and property owners that consistently keep the areas around their property clean of trash and debris.

Doug and Barbara Peterlin were taught well by their late mom, Maria Mesa. Last week, Maria passed away but left her legacy behind.  She insisted on people caring for their surroundings.

While visiting Barbara from Philly, Maria was standing next to 2 or 3 men on the corner and one of them threw a piece of paper down onto the ground. She raised her cane and laid down the rules, “we don’t throw things on the ground~~~you shouldn’t be doing that”!! May you rest in peace, Maria!

  1. Doug and Barbara are not alone in their quest for cleanliness~~~their three beautiful daughters also pitch in~~~and their dog does the right thing too! It was a pleasure dealing with the Peterlin Family.
