First Water Fountain Goes Live on the Rose Kennedy Greenway

There is a new fountain on the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, near the carousel and Harbor Islands Pavilion. This one isn’t for kids to run through but rather to “Drink Up! Bring your dog too, because there is a special drinking bowl for fido. The unique design allows easy filling of water bottles as an alternative to buying a plastic bottle of water. The water itself is regular Boston tap.

The new bubbler was dedicated “Amalie’s Fountain” on July 17th in honor of Greenway Carousel donor Amalie Kass. Family members Christina and Ken Hecht funded the added feature to the park, working with Globaltap, the company that designed the fountain. Globaltap’s founder Daniel Whitman and Greenway Conservancy’s Executive Director Jesse Brackenbury were also on hand for the unveiling where free water bottles were handed out to the first 100 patrons.
