Residents’ Association Votes to Oppose Restaurant Zoning at Former Segway Site [Video]

The North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) voted 26-12 on June 12th to oppose a proposed zoning change at 420 Commercial Street that would allow a new eatery, Vesuvio, to operate in the space by restauranteur, Damien DiPaola (Carmelina’s and Vito’s). Attorney Daniel Toscano presented for the property owner at the site formerly occupied by the Segway tour company. Attorney William Ferullo also spoke on behalf of the expected restaurant tenant. Abutters generally spoke against the zoning change while others favored the benefits of activating the space that would include outdoor tables.

NEWRA’s vote comes after that taken on Monday by the Neighborhood Council (NEWNC). The application goes to City Hall for a hearing on June 17th.

  1. Janet you are absolutely right, especially when they want to put restaurants where there were never.
restaurants before. This guy that said he moved to the North End for Noise, he should be living in.
the Theater District or Faneuil Hall not the North End. People just don’t get our lives have been turned.
upside down, and all they care about is MONEY & MORE MONEY. They already have a lot of Money, they.
just have to be thankful for what they have, and NOT be Greedy & remember this is a Neighborhood, not.
    Restaurant Row.
