At long last the warm weather seems to be making regular appearances here in Boston! In New England we try to cram as much beach time into our weekends by visiting one of the many fabulous seaside towns and islands. Even if you don’t make it to the beach you can embrace the nautical-influenced looks of the season by decking yourself out with stripes and anchors.
The ever-popular anchor is a symbol we associate with sailors, but what many don’t know is that is also represents stability, being down to earth, having a strong foundation, and hope. This season we are seeing anchors adorned on everything from sweaters and tees to earrings, necklaces, bracelets and scarves. Wear anchor accessories with navy, red or stripes to channel your inner sailor. Grab a light weight summer sweater or tee with anchors and pair with denim shorts or a light wash crop jean. Add your Sperry Topsiders and you are ready for the Cape.
Anchors are synonymous with a “preppy” style of dress, but I have noticed even the edgiest of girls adding a touch of anchors.
I can’t promise you a yacht, but I can promise you will be ready if one pulls up.
