Reminder: No Wednesday Trash Pickup

Effective July 1st, there will no residential pickup on Wednesdays! The first Wednesday without pickup is July 2nd so don’t put your trash on the sidewalks!

In case you did not get one, below is the postcard that Boston Public Works mailed to addresses in the North End, Beacon Hill, Chinatown and Bay Village. Public Works and the new contractor, Sunrise Scavengers, have said they will have a backup truck for this week, just in case. Report trash problems to the Mayor’s 24-hour Hotline at 617-635-4545 or online.

The next pickup is Friday, July 4th for both trash and recycling. (yes, there will be a pickup on the holiday). New is that recycling can also be put out on Mondays as well as Fridays (in separate clear bags).

Trash and recycling can be put out starting at 5:00 p.m. the day before pickup. Officials ask those who are able to put out trash in the morning before the 7:00 a.m. pickup run starts so it does not stay outside all night.

See this post for more details about the new Monday and Friday schedule for trash and recycling pickups.

  1. Charter St. and Henchman St. have trash at every other building. The city said they will send a truck around to collect trash from buildings that may be unaware of the new schedule. I hope it’s a BIG truck.

  2. THE TRASH NOTICE WASN’T TOO EFFECTIVE. WE HAVE TRASH ALL OVER THE NORTH END.
ABSENTEE LANDLORDS & ABSENTEE SLUMLORDS ARE REALLY CONCERNED. WHAT A JOKE,
