Wharf District Council Meeting
Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 5:00 to 7:00 PM
Custom House, 1st Floor, Liberty Room
Highlights
o Discussion with Keith Bynum, Senior Traffic Engineer BTD Boston Transportation Department on Wharf District traffic concerns. The city is constantly monitoring the streets and implementing immediate solutions. Additionally BTD is working on long term fixes. The Council members thank Mr. Bynum for his informative presentation.
o Boston Idea Week June 12th to June 19th, hosted by the City of Boston, BRA and the Chamber of Commerce. City and project officials made a presentation proposing the closure of Central Street for six days for a tent in the street. The tent is to be used for the Idea Lab – with day and evening events and programing. The Council was unanimous in agreeing, because residential and hotel properties abut Central Street, it is not suitable for a tent and intense programming.
The Wharf District Council voted unanimously to provide letters of neighborhood support for the following requests.
- City Landing’s seasonal sidewalk patio on Atlantic Avenue. Presentation made by Chef Bill Brodsky.
- Warehouse Bar & Grill seasonal sidewalk patio on Broad Street. Presentation made by owner Clifford Dever.
- Bostonia Public House seasonal sidewalk patio on Broad Street. Presentation made by General manager John Fitzgerald.
- Tia’s entertainment license. Presentation made by the Cronin Group & General Manager Katie Gorman.
