Singing Send-off as District A-1 Says Thank You and Congratulations to Lieutenant Tom Lema [Video & Photos]

Neighborhood residents and Boston Police from District A-1 came out on Thursday night to congratulate Lieutenant Thomas Lema on his recent promotion. He is moving to BPD headquarters with the hackney unit after nearly 18 years as community service supervisor at District A-1. A reception was held in the Bulfinch Triangle at North Star on Friend Street.

BPD Captain Hasson, A-1 colleagues and several community leaders spoke in high regard for Tom Lema’s work at District A-1. Citations were also presented from the State House on behalf of Sen. Anthony Pettruccelli and Rep. Aaron Michlewitz for his longstanding dedication to the A-1 neighborhoods.

Within District A-1, Lema worked with the constituents of Charlestown, Chinatown, Bay Village, North End, Beacon Hill, West End, Leather District, Financial District, Downtown Boston BID, Midtown Park Plaza Association, Downtown North Association, Wharf District Council, Friends of the Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston Common, Public Garden, Friends of the Public Garden, Charlestown Against Drugs, North End Against Drugs, Charlestown Substance Abuse Coalition and the homeless community.

If you have ever attended a BPD District A-1 get together with Tom Lema, then you know there is always singing. As shown in the video above, it was a double feature for this occasion with songs led by Dennis Fitzpatrick and Tom Lema. Below are also some photos from the event.

    District A-1 so well, for so many years.
