This Week: Neighborhood Meetings, School Dinner, Puppet Making and the Molasses Flood Anniversary

While the weather is “warm” this week, make sure you venture out to a meeting or event. RUFF and NEWNC have meetings while some will learn to make puppets at the library. Read about the Great Molasses Flood Disaster Anniversary or stop by a showing of “The Hudsucker Proxy.” Friday will be the anniversary of the legendary Brinks robbery and later on, the “Know Orchestra” will be performing at the Old North Church. Enjoy the week!

4:00pm Puppet Making with the MFA (North End Library, 25 Parmenter St.)
From Muppets to Shadow Puppets, this interactive art form has enthralled generations for ages. Bring your own character to life in our puppet-making activity with educators from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. For children ages 6 and up. This Out-of-school time program is sponsored by the Boston Public Library Foundation.

1919 Great Molasses Flood Disaster Anniversary

The Boston Molasses Disaster, also known as the Great Molasses Flood and the Great Boston Molasses Tragedy, occurred on January 15, 1919, in the North End neighborhood of BostonThis tragic event had national impact. Anniversary of Brinks Garage Robbery – Brinks Garage, Corner of Prince and Commercial Streets
Brinks Garage was robbed on January 17, 1950 by a gang that stole $2.78 million from the facility at 155 Prince Street. The location is now a parking garage with the address of 600 Commercial Street.
