Amy Latimer, President of TD Garden, presented this week to the North End Chamber of Commerce. As a neighbor of the North End neighborhood, Lattimer provided updates on some of TD Garden’s community programs including the recent Back to School Backpacks event for city kids and the Table of Friends program where local sports celebrities and management serve nearly 1000 homeless people at Thanksgiving. TD Garden is also active in Boston Shines and has regular programs to clean up the area around its facility.
Latimer also touched on the proposed development by Boston Properties bringing a mixed use tower complex and potentially a supermarket in front of the TD Garden. Separately, the facility recently took ownership of the adjacent parking garage and is working on a project for better traffic flow on that side of the West End.
In addition the the Celtics and Bruins, TD Garden brings national events to Boston. In January 2014, they will be hosting the US Figure Skating Championships as well as the World Figure Skating Championships in 2016. Both are week-long events. TD Garden continues to bid on upcoming NCAA events and has a busy line up of music concerts into 2014.
