Highlighting the 99th St. Agrippina’s Feast weekend was the Grand Procession held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 through the streets of Boston’s North End. As you can see in the video, there is plenty of singing and dancing to the music of the North End Marching Band and the Northeast Italian-American Band.
The weather was perfect as as twenty men carried the heavy statue of the Saint Agrippina through all the streets. Residents, visitors and businesses came out to follow the procession and pin donations on statue of the saint. The entire procession takes place over 9 hours.
At 13:50 in the video, you can watch the annual “Tug of War” between the front and rear carriers (the rear won, again). Concluding the feast is the celebratory “Dance of 20 Men” and “VIVA” fireworks display on Hanover Street.
