Following the weekend’s St. Anthony’s Feast, Santa Lucia, St. Lucy, Vergine e’ Martire – Protectress of Eyesight, was honored on Monday, August 26, 2013 by the Saint Lucy Society on Endicott Street in the North End of Boston. Immediately following the closing of the Saint Anthony Feast on Sunday night, the statues of both saints emerged for the opening ceremonies of the 92nd Feast of Santa Lucia with a blessing and short procession. On the Monday, a solemn procession honors St. Lucy through the streets of the North End with the North End Marching Band, flower girls and color guard. Entertainment at the feast continued for neighbors with The Reminisce performing the oldies. At the end of the night, a charity raffle is pulled before the final candlelight procession back to the chapel. See more information on the Saint Lucy Society.

A beautiful tribute to a wonderful saint! Her intervention is needed to help those with vision difficulties. Continue Santa Lucia!
Beautiful array of photos honoring this wonderful saint. My grandmother’s name was Lucia, and so this Society is especially dear.
