An early morning crew of volunteers came out on Saturday to fill the new, large planters as part of the beautification of the Cross Street Plaza. Coordinating on the project were members from the North End Beautification Committee and the Friends of the North End Parks. FOTNEP previously added a thousand pansies in the tree garden beds lining Cross Street and daffodils before that. Another area of focus was around the Tony Demarco statue where new plants and sunflower seedlings were added. Helping fund the project were MSA Mortgage Company, NorthEndBoston.com and the planters were donated by the Greenway Conservancy. The groups are committed to making Cross Street Plaza into a more beautiful “Gateway to the North End.”
