Mayor Thomas M. Menino could not make last week’s Mayor’s Coffee Hour at Christopher Columbus Park, but that did stop the friendly community gathering. Helping stand in for the Mayor were Property Chief Michael Galvin, Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak, City Councilors Sal LaMattina, Felix Arroyo and Rob Consalvo along with State Representatives Aaron Michlewitz and Marty Walsh. All participants enjoyed coffee and treats from Dunkin’ Donuts, complimentary plants and fresh fruit from Whole Foods Market.
In its largest event ever, the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park joined with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to host thousands at the 15th annual lighting of the park’s signature trellis on Monday, November 20. Artists for Humanity invite residents to participate in a large collaborative painting at Christopher Columbus Park on Thursday, July 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This interactive art series is designed to build community and generate conversation around issues effecting the waterfront all while learning about access to Boston Harbor in various neighborhood sites.
