City Councilor Salvatore LaMattina
“North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Parks”
Tuesday, May 7, 2013
Nazzaro Center, 7:00 PM.

Antonia Pollak, Commissioner of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, will join City Councilor Sal LaMattina in a discussion about our neighborhood parks at the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association’s (NEWRA) Parks and Open Space Committee meeting this Tuesday, May 7, 2013. The meeting will be held in the Nazzaro Center beginning at 7:00 PM.

Commissioner Pollack and Councilor LaMattina will discuss the capital and maintenance initiatives for city parks, will report on restoration plans for Copps Hill Terrace on Charter Street scheduled for 2015, and will respond to residents’ comments and questions. The Parks and Open Space Committee seeks to build a relationship with Boston Parks to improve open spaces within the North End.

Current Committee priorities include a needs assessment and master plan for The Prado (Paul Revere Mall), a restoration and reuse plan for The Flights above The Gassy (DeFilippo Park on Prince Street), improvements to Rachel Revere Park in North Square, and planting plans for all of the neighborhood parks, beginning with The Gassy. The condition of the North End’s street trees is also a key concern expected to be raised at the meeting. The Parks and Open Space Committee hopes many North End / Waterfront residents will attend the meeting, bring their questions and concerns, and show community support for our neighborhood parks.
