The North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) voted unanimously, 9-0, to support the addition of ice cream and a take-out license at Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe, 57 Salem Street. Represented by Attorney Daniel Toscano at the March 11, 2013 meeting, owner Sandy Russo presented plans to introduce homemade ice cream adding to its decadent selection of cupcakes, candy and baked goods.

As for the other neighborhood group, NEWRA, its ZLC Committee heard the application in late February 2013. The group’s executives have waived a full voting presentation in favor of a “no objection” letter.

When previously on Hanover St., LuLu’s offered soft serve ice cream and will now offer 4-6 flavors of homemade hard ice cream. No other changes to the store are anticipated with licensed hours remaining from 10 am through 10 pm.
