It was Bingo Blizzard Fun at the Nazzaro Center on Sunday to raise money for The Red Sox Foundation, a charity selected by North Ender Maria Shea in the name of the late Rosanne Ameno and others who have lost their battle against cancer. Despite the weekend blizzard, the community center was packed with North End supporters as well as special friends including the Ameno family, Mario and Rosemarie Dileo and the Whipple family.
The prizes were first class including hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, sports tickets and a very popular lottery basket raffle. Prize donations were received from Carmelina’s, Local Roots, Langham Hotel, Lucia’s, Filippo’s, Al Dente, Benevento’s, Carl Ameno, Mike Fud, Lulu’s, Waterfront Cafe, Boston Red Sox, Kendall Kovitz, Chuan Body & Soul, Dominic “Gizzy” Coppola, Diva Girl, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Exhale Spa, Amici, Phillips Salon and Johnny & Gino’s. Keeping everyone happy was fresh coffee, a popcorn machine and lots of baked goods.
Organizer Maria Shea is also running the 117th Boston Marathon on April 15th this year to raise more funds for The Red Sox Foundation. If you could not attend, but would still like to donate, go to Maria’s marathon fundraising page.
