February 13, 2013 is Ash Wednesday. Saint Leonard Parish in the North End has distributed the following information in their latest church bulletin. (Easter is March 31, 2013)
Ash Wednesday Schedule
- 7:30 am – St. Stephen’s Church
- 8:15 am – Sacred Heart Church
- 12:05 pm – St. Leonard Church
- 4:00 pm – 145 Commercial St.
- 7:00 pm – Sacred Heart Church
Daily Mass During Lent – Starting on Ash Wednesday, February 13th, 2013, and continuing throughout Lent, there will be a daily Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 7 p.m.
Stations of the Cross will take place every Friday during Lent at 6:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church followed by the celebration of the Eucharist.
Fasting for Love is a sacrificial project that the parish promotes every year during Lent. It consists of donating the monetary equivalent of two meals that Catholics are bound to give up, one on Ash Wednesday and the other on Good Friday. The money collected through this initiative will be forwarded in its entirety to the Fanciscan Mission in Central America in order to support a hospital, a residence for abandoned children and a nursing home for the poor elderly. They rely solely on the charity of good people. The name of the center is “Obras Santo Hermano Pedro” in the city of Antigua, Guatemala. Thank you for sharing in this worthy cause.
