We are happy to have Dos Familias Wine Imports on hand to sample some of their amazing wines, as well as Cabot Cheese who will be offering a tasting of their New England made cheeses.
This is an great opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting while supporting a great cause. You can help protect Long Wharf Park and other parkland across Massachusetts.
A bit of history:
Long Wharf Park is a unique public space. A short walk from downtown Boston, visitors find a retreat where they enjoy panoramic views of the Harbor away from the hubbub of the city.
For four years, ten local residents, (Sanjoy Mahajan, Victor Brogna, David Kubiak, Bob and Monika Skole, Anne Marie Pistorio, Mary McGee, Tom Schiavoni, Pasqua Scibelli, and Stephanie Hogue), the “North End Ten,” have been fighting the BRA’s attempt to turn the park into a late-night restaurant and bar without the legislative review mandated by the Massachusetts Constitution. The North End Ten won in the Superior Court. However, the BRA has now appealed to the Supreme Judicial Court. The group has retained New England’s oldest environmental law firm to argue its position, which is supported by the Sierra Club, the Conservation Law Foundation, and the Nature Conservancy.
The stakes are high and the legal costs are extensive. We have already raised $28,000 of the $35,000 needed. Your generous contributions will help us close the gap. Bring your checkbooks and join your friends, neighbors, and kindred spirits.
If you are unable to attend, PayPal donations are one click away at savelongwharfpark.org or mail your contributions (with checks payable to “Save Long Wharf Park”):
