[forecast]

What’s Going On Monday, October 1, 2012:

Welcome to October … only 86 days until Christmas!

October is Italian Heritage Month. The Governor and Consul General of Italy kick things off at the State House, followed by dozens of cultural events over the next few weeks. We highlight some North End events on the calendar and post the updated schedule, courtesy of the Post Gazette.

There is a community meeting scheduled tonight to discuss the North Bennet Street School development project. The meeting is at the Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St., staring at 6:30 pm. See the post.

The Events Calendar has all the details.

What’s new on the blog:

The North End has dozens of newly blessed animals, thanks to Old North’s annual Blessing of the Animals, held Sunday on the Prado. There were dogs, fish with participation by R.U.F.F., Animal Control and the Animal Rescue League.  See the photos.
