[forecast]

What’s Going On Wednesday, August 22, 2012:

It’s the lazy, hazy days of summer and a good time to catch up with neighborhood friends.

NEWRA’s Annual Summer Party starts at 6:30pm at the Pilot House, Lewis Wharf (2 Atlantic Ave.). All North End / Waterfront residents are welcome.

Virgil and ROC Teen Saturday are back with a Wednesday Night Movie at the Gassy at 7pm on Prince St. showing The Tooth Fairy.

The North End Branch Library has a film too … Jack Goes Boating, starting at 6pm.

A girls softball clinic is scheduled for 5:30pm outside the Nazzaro Center for girls 7-12, run by Coach Dom. Show up with sneakers and a glove.

Check with event organizers for last minute changes. View details and more community happenings on the Events Calendar.

What’s Popular on the Blog:

Comments continue to pour in on the latest “noise” post and some more discussion about the “loose rat poison” warning.

The Bartlett Place trash dumping was the buzz this weekend. Mark Petrigno helps us out with a photo and adds a second one on the Hanover St. Freedom Trail. See the pictures.

Also Worth Taking a Look:

The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park have hit a stride, continuing to find creative ways to help neighbors, families and visitors enjoy the waterfront park. This Sunday, it was an Old Fashioned Picnic in the Park. We stopped by and took these photos.

Just For Fun:

We love the North End traditions and not many go as far back as the Fisherman’s Feast procession throughout the streets in honor of Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca. Our 102nd Fisherman’s Feast Grand Procession video captures great moments from last Sunday’s 8-hour procession from the kickoff at 12:30 pm up to the Flight of the Angel (that video is coming tomorrow). Take a look and turn up the volume.

Featured Series:

How many blogs do you know that have a series of posts on “Noise“? Take a gander.

Neighborhood Photo of the Day:

Opera and Celtic music were in the air at Christopher Columbus Park on a beautiful Tuesday night. Shown here are folks spreading out their blankets during the Trine Cheile concert. Next Tuesday, August 28th, 6pm, the Waterfront Performing Arts series concludes with Annie Royer performing French cabaret and a showing of Wages of Fear (in French with English subtitles).
