Forever Stamp Commemorates USS Constitution’s Role in War of 1812

News from the USS Constitution Museum:

America’s oldest commissioned warship, USS Constitution, sets sail on Sunday for the first time since 1997. For this momentous occasion, the United States Post Office releases a Forever stamp of the ship to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The image depicted on the stamp is the oldest known painting of “Old Ironsides” by Michele Felice Corne (circa. 1803.) The original artwork on loan from the US Navy Art, Naval History and Heritage Command, is on display at the USS Constitution Museum located in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
