The recent dismantling of a billboard structure along the Greenway is being well-received by those who hate the outdoor advertising platforms. Nearly all of the Greenway billboards were put in place when the Central Artery overhead expressway was still in place. Now that the Greenway parks have replaced the artery, should the billboards remain?
One person who is keeping track is North End artist, Nathan Swain. He sends in these before and after photos, noting there are six more billboards that remain along the Greenway parks. (Click photos to enlarge.)
Before: Billboard along the Central Artery.
After: The billboard is no longer and the Greenway is in place.
Isn't there a law that says billboards cannot be within a certain distance from a public park?
